Full-time & Part-time Primary Care Physician

The Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) is currently recruiting for one permanent full-time (1 FTE) and one permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) Primary Care Physcian.

Physicians work as members of a team that include Nurse Practitioners, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and more. As salaried staff, physicians are able to focus on providing client care. This is a challenging, yet rewarding position providing comprehensive primary care services to clients of all ages, with an emphasis on those who are high risk and/or experiencing barriers to care. Utilizing an interdisciplinary team, our CHC delivers comprehensive primary care services and health promotion programs to individuals and families in St. Thomas, Central Elgin and Southwold Township.

We are located in the city of St. Thomas with a population of more than 40, 000 people, strategically located in south western Ontario, with easy access to highway 401 and 402 and only 20 minutes to London, a major referral center.

This opportunity is ideal for physicians who are interested in serving clients who face multiple barriers to accessing care as well as being more vulnerable and at risk. Our primary focus is to provide services to people with an emphasis on those: without a family doctor; with addictions; with mental health issues; as risk youth and seniors

Our inter-professional team coordinates illness prevention, health promotion, educational and support groups based on community needs. With access to a network of social service agencies, our community services and educational programs are designed to help clients take charge of their health.

Qualifications

  • current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

  • demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care and health promotion concepts including harm reduction

  • understanding how the social determinants of health afftects a person's health

  • openess to working with people who are homeless, living with mental illness or addictions and/or complex health needs

  • excellent communication, interpersonal, decision making, conflict management and organizational skills

  • able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • must have a valid Ontario Driver's Licence

  • experience with electronic medical records (EMR) would be an asset

  • second language an asset
