Job Description:

The Clinical Office Assistant is the first point of contact and must have excellent organizational skills, and good time management; ability to multi-task; work efficiently and effectively; be a team-player and keep a positive attitude.

  •  Front desk responsibilities: answering phones, greet visitors, respond to inquiries, relay calls and messages
  • Schedule clients; specialist and diagnostic testing appointments using EMR; make reminder calls; fax prescriptions; photocopy; print documents
  • Prepare, maintain, update, retrieve, track and file charts and other client records, manually and/or electronically
  • Maintain a current referral directory
  • Maintain service providers’ schedules in consultation with providers
  • Receive incoming mail, coordinate distribution, and process outgoing mail

Qualifications:

Three to five years’ administrative and customer service experience preferably in a health care setting. Proficiency in the use of computers, various software including Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records and office equipment; ability to work in a fast paced environment; maintain a professional attitude and project a welcoming attitude.

Permanent Part-time Primary Care Physician for CCHC in St Thomas, Ontario

The Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) is currently recruiting for one permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) Primary Care Physician.

Physicians work as members of a team that include Nurse Practitioners, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and more. As salaried staff, physicians are able to focus on providing client care. We offer an excellent salary, benefits, full administrative support, electronic medical records, and reasonable work hours.  Together we address the complex needs of our clients.  

This is a challenging, yet rewarding position providing comprehensive primary care services to clients at all ages and stages, with an emphasis on those who are high risk and/or experiencing barriers to care. Utilizing an interdisciplinary team, our CHC delivers comprehensive primary care services and health promotion programs to individuals and families in St Thomas, Central Elgin and Southwold Township.  

We are located in the city of St Thomas with a population of more than 40,000 people, strategically located in south western Ontario, with easy access to highway 401 and 402 and only 20 minutes to London, a major referral center.              

This opportunity is ideal for physicians who are interested in serving clients who face multiple barriers to accessing care as well as being more vulnerable and at risk.  Our primary focus is to provide services to people with an emphasis on those:

  • Without a family doctor

  • With addictions

  • With mental health issues

  • With diabetes

  • At risk youth, and

Our inter-professional team coordinates illness prevention, health promotion, educational and support groups based on community needs. With access to a network of social service agencies, our community services and educational programs are designed to help clients take charge of their health.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care and health promotion concepts including harm reduction

  • Understanding how the social determinants of health affects a person’s health

  • Openness to working with people who are homeless, living with mental illness or addictions and/or complex health needs

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision making, conflict management and organizational skills

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence

  • Experience with electronic medical (EMR) records would be an asset

  • Second language an asset
